For many travellers, the thrill of a lifetime was viewing the gorgeous scenery and the operations of a railway in the mountains and valleys of Glacier Park and the Cascades from a new and exciting vantage point. Great Northern certainly knew how to provide intriguing ideas to attract, and keep, its vacationing and travelling customers. The open observation cars were added to the rear of many trains in summer season for the scenic portions of the journey.
