Cases : Inessive and Adessive

In general, the question missä is answered by a word in the inessive case, i.e. a noun having the ending -ssa, -ssä. However, there are also some cases where the adessive ending -lla, -llä is used. Compare the following:

Missä on Helsinki?
Missä on Pariisi?
Missä on Lontoo?
Missä on Moskova? 		Se on Suomessa.
Se on Ranskassa.
Se on Englannissa.
Se on Venäjällä. 		'It is in Finland.'
'It is in France.'
'It is in England.'
'It is in Russia.'

The cases where the adessive case is used to answer the question Missä? are few and need to be memorized. Here are some of the most typical ones:
