Croal Island Associates   DISCOVERY BAY Originally named Puerto Seco (Dry Harbor) by the Spanish, Discovery Bay is considered by some to be the location of the first landing of Christopher Columbus on Jamaica in 1494.  Discovery Bay, together with Runaway Bay and Ocho Rios, is part of the "North Coast Resorts"-- the original tourist destination of Jamaica.  This is "old charm" Jamaica--once the favorite haunt of pirates, smugglers, and a few other legendary characters, including Noel Coward, Errol Flynn, and James Bond creator Ian Fleming. Although not everyone can agree upon the history of this wide flask- shaped bay, all can agree upon the beauty of its pristine beaches and crystal clear waters.  Discovery Bay is not only a favorite vacation spot for tourists, it is a favorite for Jamaicans as well, so you know it has to be good!  Imagine yourself in a beautiful villa, where the staff awaits to pamper your every need and the atmosphere beckons you to relax by the pool.   You may find it hard to leave, even for a day,  but Discovery Bay  is close to many natural attractions--including a ten mile cave system where you can go 120 feet underground and see beautiful clear  water grottoes.  The Bay is also just a short drive from Runaway  Bay, and a day trip's distance from Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Port Antonio.
