- Napoleon-
was the son of a lawyer. He married twice. He was not known for his fondness
towards women. However, he did have the occasional liason.
- Josephine-The
first wife of Napoleon was six years his senior. There is much documented
about their sometimes turbulent relationship. Although Napoleon was more
passionate about her than anyone he had or would become involved with,
Josephine married him for purely practical reasons. She was known for infidelities.
- Marie
Louise-Marie Louise hated Napoleon, and considered him her country's
enemy. He was responsible for the guillotining of her aunt (Marie Antoinette's
grand niece). Four months after Napoleon's divorce from Josephine, he married
Marie Louise, Princess of Austria. The second wife of Napoleon, Marie Louise
was only eighteen when they married. She bore him two children.
- Marie
Walewska- was twenty-two and married to a count almost fifty years
her senior. She gave birth to Napoleon's child while still residing in
her husband's castle. Eventually she followed Napoleon to Paris, and was
said to have cared for him in Fontainbleau after he was dethroned and attempted
suicide.
- Desiree-Napoleon
proposed to Desiree shortly after his promotion to general of brigade.
Daughter of an extremely wealthy soap boiler, she was sixteen when he showed
an interest in her. Some say he only wanted to marry her to secure the
family fortune and please his mother. She was a passing fancy.
- Mademoiselle
George-made her first appearance as an actess at 16. Napoleon as First
Consul was known to have attended her performances whenever possible. She
was madly in love with him and was his courtesan for 6 years.
