Along with Ivie Anderson, Bea Wain sparkled in front of the Big Bands. Her distinctive voice was joined to the Larry Clinton and His Orchestra in 1937, a year which brought her national attention. Her distinctive voice was married to Clinton's arrangements and turned "Martha" into a New York style song in contrast to the New Orleans style given it by Connee Boswell. The duo also turned some classically inspired tunes into sultry fare, as in Debussy's "My Reverie" and Saint-Saens's "My Heart at Thy Sweet Voice". Although she no longer performs except in all star galas, she can be heard spinning records on the air waves. When she does perform however, she demonstrates she has lost none of her powers.
