How to Interpret the Statistics Pages.
Victory %: Simply put, the percent of victories out of total games played.
Culmulative Health: This is the total health remaining for each of the following cases :
Players health upon victory / Opponents health upon defeat.
Margin of Victory: This score represents the average health of the winner upon victory. This is calculated by taking the winning cumulative health of each player, and dividing this number by the number of victories.
Margin of Failure:This score represents the average health of the opponent upon defeat. This is calculated by taking the opponent's cumulative health of each player, and dividing this number by the number of defeats.
Margin Ratio:This score represents the relative power or endurance of a player's deck. This number is calculated by dividing the margin of victory by the margin of failure. Thus a high margin of victory and a low margin of failure is an ideal situation.
To further explain the concept of Margin Ratio, take the following cases :
- If you always lose to your opponent without hitting him at all, your margin of failure will be 20. If by some luck you manage to defeat him, your margin of victory could be, say 5 or less....assuming your opponents deck is much stronger than yours. Thus your margin ratio would be 5/20 or '0.25'. Meanwhile your opponent has a margin of victory of 20, and a margin of failure of 5. His margin ratio would be 20/5 or 4. As you can see 4 >> '0.25' indicating that your opponents deck is much stronger than yours.
- However, if both decks are comparable in strength, you would typically see a trade-off where both victors only manage a margin of victory of say 10 each. Thus the margin of victory *and* failure are both 10 (assuming decks of equal strength). So the margin ratio would be 10/10, or 1 for each player. Thus indicating that their decks are equivalent in strength.
I have noticed that any deck that has a margin ratio less than [0.9-1.0] typically could use some tuning.
